Whales at Logans Beach

Victorian UAS is working with the Arthur Rylah Institute looking at what Warrnambool is famous for, Whales!

The imagery captured will be used to examine the callosity patterns or unique features on the head of whales including this season’s whale calves.

Adding calves to the photo-identification catalogue allows researchers to document their return to the Australian coast in the future.

It will also allow researchers to assess health and body condition of the adults to see how they are doing this season.

All imagery has been taken under research permit (no. 10010359) under Section 78 (1) (c) of the Wildlife Act 1975 and Animal Ethics approval (AEC 22-001)
